FORMAL EVENING ATTIRE
T
he tuxedo is a popular choice for very formal evening weddings. The Tuxedo is an easy to wear formal party attire designed to make the wearer look fabulous. There are no many choices to make in terms of design, as the style is uniform, so it is very hard to get it wrong. Worn with a black tie, tuxedos come in a variety of shapes and forms. You could have a single-breasted with peaked or notched lapels, or a ‘shawl collar’ (a curved lapel without peaks or notches, as found on a dressing gown).

Black tie affair- has a black dinner jacket, trousers, white shirt, and bow tie. A white dinner jacket may be worn in place of the black in a hot climate area.

White tie event – Has dinner jacket and trousers with a white shirt, waistcoat, and bow tie and is usually reserved for the most formal events occurring after six o’clock in the evening.

The cummerbund is a thick fabric belt, with pleats or folds worn around the waist. The folds on the cummerbund should always face upwards. Never wear a cummerbund with a waistcoat.
cuff links
The shirt worn with a tuxedo should have a pleated front and a soft turndown collar. Shoes should be of patent leather and formal.

The accessories include braces to hold up the trouser (never a belt), cuff links square is a pleasant finishing touch.

SHOES
Shoes should be black leather and highly polished, and make sure the soles are scuffed or scored, especially if they are new.

FORMAL WEAR FOR GROOMS

JACKETS
The ideal jacket should fit well. If the shoulder padding extends beyond the shoulders it’s too big so during fittings, make sure you button up your jacket to ensure it fits well. When fitted properly it should just cover the posterior. The jacket sleeves should finish between the crease of the wrist and the fleshly part of the thumb with shirtsleeves poking out about half an inch.Remove the label on the jacket that hangs at the end of the sleeves.

SHIRTS
What to keep in mind when buying shirts:
  • Always look for the thread count
  • If you slip more than 2 fingers between your collar and neck, then the shirt is too big and if you can slip a finger the shirt is too small.
  • Your shirtfront, collar and tie will show the very slightest stain, so make sure that your hands are scrupulously clean when fastening it
